Allied Telesis New 48-Port Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch
Allied Telesis Announces New AT-GS950 / 48 Ethernet Switch Designed for Small Office Networks and Workgroups. The AT-GS950 / 48 is equipped with 44 10/100 / 1000T ports as well as four complex ports, allowing for both 10/100 / 1000T and fiber connectivity with the addition of an optional SFP module.
The AT-GS950 / 48 Websmart Web Managed Switch is designed for small networks that require specific VLAN segmentation, advanced quality (QoS) and security, but do not require full network management. The device allows network administrators to configure port-based and tagged (IEEE 802.1Q) VLANs. With four channel priority queues, the new switch is a good solution for deploying voice, data and video networks. Additional protection against unauthorized access is provided by the IEEE 802 user authorization function.1x with RADIUS protocol. Port Trunking provides better device performance, while port traffic reflection in the new switch makes it easier to diagnose network problems.
By supporting IGMP, the AT-GS950 / 48 switch enables companies to more efficiently manage resources, IP multicast addressing, and provide high bandwidth for video applications. Other standards supported by the new Allied Telesis switch are STP and RSTP, which provide redundant links to protect the network in the event of a bad link failure.
