ADLINK ETX-GLX – “computer module” based on AMD Geode LX 800 with SATA support

ADLINK Technology has announced a new product in the Computer on Module category. The computer, designated ETX-GLX, combines most of the functionality required by embedded system designers on a single miniature board. The use of such modules and communication boards, according to the manufacturer, significantly reduces the design time of final products and accelerates their development in production. According to the company, the ETX form factor was the most competitive in terms of price for OEM projects with a batch size of 500 to 50,000 units.

The main areas of application of the novelty are medical equipment, gaming machines, measuring equipment, trading terminals, mobile computers and on-board systems of vehicles. In other words, applications requiring low power consumption, moderate performance and advanced graphics support.

At the heart of the ETX-GLX is the AMD Geode LX 800 processor and the CS5536 auxiliary chip, which are a good example of the balance between processing power and low power consumption. Computer can be equipped with 1GB DDR400 memory as one SO-DIMM. Optional 128 or 256 MB DDR400 can be soldered directly on the board.

Connection of analog displays with a resolution of up to 1920 x 1440 pixels and digital (one or two 24-bit LVDS channels) with a resolution of up to 1600 x 1200 pixels. Optionally, you can install the Focus FS 455 TV encoder by Focus Enhancements, which is capable of outputting standard and high definition signals (480p, 720p and 1080i) in NTSC and PAL systems.

The device configuration includes a 10 / 100Base-T Ethernet adapter, a PATA EIDE controller (PIO and UDMA modes are supported), two SATA ports, four USB 2.0, two serial ports, one parallel (SPP / ECP / EPP) to which you can connect a floppy drive, PS / 2 interface and AC97 audio codec.

Declared support for Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Linux and Vxworks. Trial samples of ETX-GLX are still available; serial deliveries should start at the end of the month.
