Laird Technologies and ITEQ prepare joint solution for LED-backlit LCD panels

As you know, the use of LEDs in systems for backlighting liquid crystal screens is a very promising direction for improving the characteristics of these products. However, manufacturers face some challenges that hinder rapid technology adoption. Laird Technologies and ITEQ decided to jointly overcome some of them.

Laird Technologies, positioning itself as a manufacturer of key components for electronic devices and wireless communications equipment, and ITEQ signed an agreement under which Laird Technologies will gain access to ITEQ manufacturing facilities in exchange for the supply of materials related to the T-lam family. ITEQ is specialized in the production of multilayer printed circuit boards.

The mentioned manufacturing and materials are the most important resources required for the manufacture of LED backlight units. The fact is that, working in conditions of difficult heat dissipation, LEDs used as light sources in the backlight of LCD panels quickly degrade their characteristics. T-lam materials preserve the brightness and color of the glow due to efficient heat dissipation from the LEDs.

Thermally conductive PCBs made from T-lam materials (IMPCB) use a special thermal conductive T-preg dielectric sheet bonded to a copper foil and metal base to provide improved performance over conventional PCBs.
