Ramtron launches 4-bit FRAM non-volatile triggers
Ramtron, a leading non-volatile ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) company, has expanded its portfolio with state-preserving devices. The novelty is built on the basis of 4-bit FRAM memory, saves logical states in the absence of power and automatically restores output levels when it is applied. All state changes are automatically recorded in the non-volatile ferroelectric cell.
There are three FM111x devices available: FM1110 with 5 V supply voltage, FM1112 and FM1114 with 3 V supply. In application, they are similar to D-flip-flops and can be used as a conventional logic block, in contrast to it, maintaining their state in the absence of a supply voltage. According to the manufacturer, this helps simplify circuitry for devices such as switches, shift registers, relay control circuits, LED power circuits, error flag writing cells, and power outage detection circuits. In addition, indicators for opening doors, turning motors on and off, substitutes for DIP switches and jumpers are named among the possible applications.
The FM1110 microcircuit operates in the range of supply voltages from 4.5 to 5.5 V, FM1112 and FM1114 – from 2.7 to 3.6 V. At the same time, the idle current of FM1112 and FM1114 does not exceed 10 and 0.5 (!) μA, respectively. The number of state changes is unlimited, the maximum switching frequency is 1 MHz, the operating temperature range extends from -40 to + 85 ° C. Devices are available in 16-pin QFN housings.
