Philips unveils a pair of 3D displays that don’t need glasses

Philips has been known for its 3D displays capable of reproducing 3D images for quite some time. We first heard about the WOWvx series thanks to the 42-inch model shown by Philips back at last year’s CeBIT.

Now the series has been replenished with two more new products that allow you to get a three-dimensional image without special glasses and similar devices.

These are 20-inch models WOWvx 20-3D2W01 and 20-3D2W04, differing in that the first is supposed to be mounted on a wall in a frame, and the second is a more traditional monitor equipped with a stand. The aspect ratio of both is 4 to 3.

The solutions are focused primarily on use in stores, demonstration kiosks and other places where it is necessary to attract the public’s attention.

The surface of such displays is an array of biconvex lenses that send a different image to each of the beholder’s eyes. Naturally, to obtain a 3D image, an appropriate source is required, processed by a special signal processor built into the WOWvx series displays.

The start of sales of WOWvx 20-3D2W01 and 20-3D2W04 is scheduled for August this year.
