Intel discontinues Pentium 4 and Pentium D

According to the source, Intel has published a timetable for discontinuing the Pentium 4 (65 nm) and Pentium D desktop processors.

Orders for microprocessors Pentium 4 631, 641 and 661, Pentium D 915, 925, 935 and 945 placed starting October 5 cannot be canceled. And after December 7, accepting orders for the listed products will be completely discontinued. This applies to both individually wrapped processors for retail and tray processors supplied to system builders.

Thus, Intel will be able to determine the speed of the rollout of the release – if there are few orders received after October 5, the production of the listed processors will soon be discontinued. Considering the emergence of attractive dual-core alternatives, this development of events looks quite logical.
