GE Fanuc Embedded Systems CR5 Single Board Computer Designed for Military Life
We have written about the products of GE Fanuc Embedded Systems more than once: about the portable DDR-200 system, capable of recording data at speeds up to 100 Mb / s, and about the EP2A single-board computer for the military, and about the Telum 200-SATA disk module, and about C2K single board computer based on PowerPC processor. This is not surprising – since one of the main customers of the company is the military department, the appearance of interesting products in its range is guaranteed.
So this time we will talk about a single-board computer designed for the military. The novelty may not be as attractive as the UMPC GoBook MR-1, recently presented by General Dynamics, but it is also designed for very harsh operating conditions.
Powered by an Intel Core Duo LV processor (1.66 GHz), the CR5 single board computer has a passive cooling system designed for an extended operating temperature range of the environment. The product is designed as a 3U CompactPCI board. It can be configured with up to 2GB DDR2 400MHz Error Correction (ECC) memory. Possibilities of interaction with the outside world, connection of drives and peripheral devices are provided by two Gigabit Ethernet adapters, two SATA ports, two USB 2.0 and eight GPIOs. Optionally, it is possible to install an expansion daughter card that provides connection of CompactFlash drives and video adapters. The computer is designed to operate under VxWorks, Linux and Windows XP.
