ISuppli Analysts Confirm: AMD Stops Intel
After six months, during which AMD was gradually losing market share to its competitor, it managed to stabilize the situation in the second quarter of this year – this is the preliminary conclusion of iSuppli analysts. It echoes AMD’s Q2 report.
ISuppli estimates AMD’s share of global microprocessor sales was 11.4% in the second quarter of 2021, up 0.5% from the first quarter. Although small, but the growth of the market share marked the end of the period of its decline – from 16.8% in the third quarter of last year to 10.9% in the first quarter of this year.
As you know, if it arrives in one place, in another – it will definitely decrease. Intel’s market share declines 0.5% in Q2.
As for the rest of the microprocessor manufacturers, they, as in the first quarter, own 8.3% of the market.
According to analysts, the main reason for the redistribution of market shares between AMD and Intel is the decrease in the average price of Intel processors – in other words, the company sold many processors, but at a lower price. Of course, the changes so far are too insignificant to speak of a change in the trend – rather, that the situation has stabilized. Probably, this fact partly determined AMD’s pricing policy for the near future.
