Intel Shows Games Convention 45nm Yorkfield Quad-Core Microprocessor
More than just the new Razer Lachesis, Microsoft SideWinder Mouse and Ideazon REAPER Edge were showcased at the Games Convention in Germany.
As you know, Intel is preparing for the official debut Yorkfield quad-core microprocessors, which are part of the 45-nm Penryn family of devices (dual-core Penryn crystal is shown in the illustration), which should appear on the market at the end of this year and early next year. Since January this year, the company has already demonstrated servers, laptops and desktops based on these 45nm processors.
This time, game enthusiasts and developers participating in the Games Convention were able to familiarize themselves with a desktop system based on a 45nm Yorkfield quad-core microprocessor.
According to some reports, the Intel exhibition showed a microprocessor with 12 MB of L2 cache, designed for a clock speed of 2.83 GHz, and the basis for the motherboard in which it was installed was a set of Intel X38 Express system logic. By the way, we recall that although the official premiere of X38 Express is expected in September, Intel has postponed the release of motherboards based on it.
