New details about Intel Eaglelake

As you know, Intel released the Bearlake family of chipsets this year. More precisely, it is in the process of being released: the G33 and P35 Express have been shipping starting in April, the Q33 and Q35 came last month, and the G35 and X38 Express are planned for the fall.

At the same time, the company is thinking about a more distant period, when Bearlake will be followed by Eaglelake.

The Eaglelake family will include three familiar chipset options: P, G and Q. Their main feature will be support for Intel Penryn processors (Yorkfield and Wolfdale) and other processors with FSB up to 1333 MHz. As expected, DDR3 and DDR2 memory will be supported, with the maximum speed values selected for DDR3-1333 and DDR2-800. Eaglelake introduces PCIe 2.0 for discrete graphics. At the same time, the PCIe bus in the new ICH10 south bridge will not be compatible with the second version of the specifications.

In general, the south bridge ICH10 will be rather “lean” due to the rejection of support for outdated interfaces – only Serial ATA, PCIe, USB and HD Audio will remain. But the novelty of the bridge will be port multipliers – with their help, it will be possible, for example, to connect several devices to one SATA port without losing data exchange speed.

Eaglelake-P replaces P35 Express. This version of the chipset will provide for the connection of two PCIe 2 slots.0 x16 (with signals x8). While CrossFire and SLI support is not mentioned in Intel’s plans, given CrossFire support in other Intel chipsets, we can assume that Eaglelake-P will have it too.

Eaglelake-G will feature an integrated graphics subsystem that is compatible with DirectX 10 and equipped with DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI outputs. Declared the use of Intel Clear Video technology, which improves video playback, in particular, accelerates decoding of data in the H format.264 and VC-1 recorded on HD DVD and Blu-ray.

Eaglelake-Q will be the basis for the Intel McCreary vPro platform, which will support AMT 5.0, VT for Directed I / O, Trusted Execution Technology, and embedded TPM 1.2.

The premiere of Eaglelake is scheduled for the second quarter of 2021.
