D-Link announces the introduction of a new Dual Access technology designed to provide a user experience when connecting to home networks and ISP networks via a dedicated Ethernet line.
D-Link DI-xxx series routers supporting Dual Access technology are capable of serving two connections on one dedicated line, which allows users to simultaneously access the Internet and use the provider’s local network resources (for example, file storage, forums, FTP and gaming servers, etc.P.).

Currently, D-Link Dual Access technology support is implemented in DI-524 / 524UP / 604 / 604UP / 624S / 704P / 804HV / 824VUP routers+. New versions of the software are distributed free of charge and are available

Connecting home computers to the network of Internet providers using Dual Access technology
D-Link Dual Access technology was developed taking into account the peculiarities of the service provision scheme of the largest Internet providers, such as Corbina Telecom. The D-Link FTP server contains examples of configuring the DI-524, DI-524UP / 604 / 604UP / 624S / 704P and DI-804HV / 824VUP + routers to work in the Corbina Telecom network.
Many providers use PPPoE technology in Ethernet networks to access the Internet for users. This technology is usually used in DSL networks where there are no local network resources, but since it is successfully used in Ethernet networks due to the simplicity of scaling, to fully work with the resources of the local network and the Internet via PPPoE, the DualAccess PPPoE function is needed. When using the function, the device uses a physical and logical interface to communicate with network resources and the Internet.

The IPTV service is very popular and is rapidly gaining momentum. Almost every provider has its own broadcasting network with entertainment, information and sports programs. Devices for decoding IPTV, for example (SetTopBox Amino120) requires a direct connection to the provider via a dedicated cable. But using the DualAccess IGMP function, the STB can be located in the internal secure network behind the router. When sending a request to connect to a channel, the device will intercept the request and send it on its own behalf, and the incoming one will redirect to the STB. The device will send a request to the tunnel and the local network, so the user does not have to write routes or somehow configure the device for IPTV. You just need to enable the Multicast function in the device interface.

The device uses the PPPoE protocol to access the Internet, regardless of the server and its policies, the user has access to all the resources of the local network, thanks to the physical interface and the routing table.
