AMD: Windsor Core Stays On – Updated Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Coming Next Quarter?

AMD plans to
release of “the last of the Mohicans”, t.e. will release another Athlon 64 X2 processor on
Windsor core. At the moment, the fastest in this series is
3.0-GHz model
Athlon 64 X2 6000+
(with TDP level 125 W). But
AMD does not intend to ship 90nm Windsor core
rest, bye. He has one more, final battle.

Athlon 64 X2 6000+ will remain in
roadmaps of the company both this and next, 2021, at least until it
mid. AMD has conceived an upgrade of this processor.
And, instead of moving the processor to a more modern, 65nm core
Brisbane, such as the new Athlon 64 X2 series processors (5200+, 5000+, 4800+,
4400+, 4000+, 3600+ and BE-series), the updated version of Athlon X2 6000+ will have all
the same Windsor core.

The novelty is not expected to be as hot as the “original model”,
instead of 125 W of heat dissipation, it will emit only 89 W. However,
that’s 24 W higher than the fastest Brisbane versions (Athlon X2 5200+, 2.7
GHz). However, the Phenom processor preparing for the announcement in the first quarter of 2021
X2 GP-6800 (codenamed Kuma), will feature the same amount
heat generated.

So, despite the release of performance solutions from the Phenom X2 series, Athlon 64
X2 6000+ remains the only mainstream dual-core processor with a frequency of
3.0 GHz. Phenom X2 processors are known to have operating frequencies of
in the 2.4-2.8 GHz region, there is still nothing about the release of the 3.0-GHz version of Barcelona
audibly, Barcelona will debut at 2 GHz at all.

More recently, the DigiTimes resource reported (with reference to information received
from motherboard manufacturers) about another original version of the processor from
Athlon 64 X2 families –
rated models
6400+. According to the source, the updated version of Athlon 64 X2 6000+ with
TDP 89W should appear in the next quarter.
Whereas the 3.2GHz Athlon 64 X2 6400+ has allegedly been shipped
motherboard manufacturers to update BIOS.
Which of these two versions will actually be released (if at all), we
we will find out pretty soon, it remains to wait for the official
manufacturer information.
