The name of the joint venture of Intel and STMicroelectronics for the production of flash memory has become known
Recall that in May of this year, information appeared about the plans of STMicroelectronics, Intel and Francisco Partners to create a new independent company for the production of flash memory for consumer and industrial electronics.
As it became known, the enterprise will be called Numonyx. The name plays out consonance with the word “mnemonics” (mnemonics), denoting a set of techniques and methods that facilitate memorization.
Numonyx will be based on the assets of STMicroelectronics and Intel related to the development and production of flash memory. Completion of the transaction is expected in the second half of the year. This requires regulatory approval and all formal procedures. The headquarters of the new enterprise will be located in Switzerland.
Earlier it was reported that private equity firm Francisco Partners will invest $ 150 million in Numonyx. The partners’ shares in Numonyx will be distributed as follows: Francisco Partners – 6.3%, Intel – 45.1% STMicroelectronics – 48.6%.
