Utilities: DeviceLock v.6.2 Beta 2
A new version of the DeviceLock utility has been released, which will help system administrators to distribute access rights and set security policies in operating systems of the Windows family, in particular, it will allow you to control access to USB ports and devices. In addition to access to USB ports, DeviceLock allows you to control the entire range of potentially dangerous devices: floppy drives, CD-ROM?s, as well as FireWire, infrared, printer (LPT) and modem (COM) ports, WiFi and Bluetooth adapters. DeviceLock allows you to assign access rights for users and user groups. DeviceLock has a remote control system that provides access to all possible program functions.
In version 6.2 Beta 2 it is now possible to disable type control for whitelisted USB devices and which can be controlled at both the interface (port) and type levels. For example, by unchecking the “Control as Type” flag for a USB flash drive that is whitelisted for USB devices, you will disable access control at the Removable type level. In addition, this “Control as Type” flag is always cleared for devices authorized in the Temporary White List. This new feature allows you to prevent permission conflict (dual control) for whitelisted devices and simplify setting access control policies. Changed parameters for installation without user intervention. Now all DeviceLock settings (permissions, audit and shadowing rules) can be specified in an external XML file and applied during a silent installation. To load settings from an external XML file by the installer, use the new “SettingsFile” parameter.. Read more here.
