Stepping M0 for Pentium Dual-Core E2160 / 2140 and G0 for QX6800 – what’s new?

VR-Zone announces the transfer to the new stepping of boxed versions of Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2160 / 2140 and Core 2 Extreme QX6800 processors.

In the first case, the L-2 will be replaced by the M-0, which will bring the following changes to the chips:

  • Changing CPUID from 6F2 to 6FD
  • In Extended HALT mode, power consumption will be reduced from 12 to 8 watts
  • The maximum allowable case temperature will increase from 61.4 ° C to 73.2 ° C
  • Small differences in chip packaging

Core 2 Extreme QX6800 will change its stepping from B-3 to G-0. The main changes will look like this:

  • Change CPUID from 06F7 to 06FB
  • The box will take on a more familiar form for Intel retail products (now it’s a white box)
  • The maximum allowable case temperature will increase by 9.7 ° C
