Samsung DDR2 Gigabit Memory Will Fit New Intel Chipsets

Samsung Electronics today announced that it has received Intel Certification for its ’50nm class’ 1Gb DDR2 DRAM, which claims to be the most advanced DRAM in the industry. memory with current and next generation Intel chipsets. In particular, we are talking about supporting data rates up to 800 Mbps.

The mentioned memory was created by Samsung specialists last fall. Since then, no other company is said to have mastered the release of 1Gb DDR2 DRAM at 50nm.

The company estimates that 1Gbit DDR2 DRAM chips manufactured at 50nm standards are twice as efficient as similar chips manufactured at 80nm standards, and the production efficiency of these products is 50% higher than the indicator of 60nm process technology.

Memory manufacturers expect increased demand for their products due to the proliferation of Windows Vista PCs, especially in the corporate systems market. One of the results of the increase in the typical amount of RAM should be the migration from 512 Mbit components to 1 Gbit components in the mainstream segment, with a simultaneous transition from DDR2 to DDR3, which will become noticeable at the end of this year.
